Concerns Over Increasing Traffic in Pleasant Valley Neighborhood

We moved into the Pleasant Valley Neighborhood hoping for peaceful living. Yet, a recent increase in traffic has left me and my family disturbed. Following the unveiling of the new Duchess Supermarket on Belmont Avenue, our once quiet neighborhood has become congested with traffic. Residential streets are now used as shortcuts at all hours, creating a constant stream of noise and speeding cars. I urge the city council to tackle this issue seriously. Implementing strict speed limits or rerouting traffic could help ensure our neighborhood retains its peace and charm.

Make no mistake, the algae bloom crisis in our local lakes is a man-made disaster. The recent news reports about the toxic algae blooms at the Collins Lake should be a wake-up call for us all. Pollution as a result of urban runoff, & climate change are debilitating our water bodies. Let’s protect our water bodies for not only ourselves but for our future generations. A coordinated community effort can make a difference and put a check to further spread of toxic algae blooms. #SaveSchenectadyLakes

Appreciation for Local Heroes

I write to celebrate our unsung heroes, the Schenectady Fire Department. Last Tuesday, when the Richards Building caught fire, they were on the scene within minutes. Their swift, calculated, and brave response prevented the fire from spreading to nearby buildings saving countless lives and property. As a community, we are fortunate to have such selfless and dedicated men and women. Their valor not only deserves recognition but also our immense gratitude and respect.
