KYIV, Ukraine – The recent exchange of prisoners of war between Russia and Ukraine marks a significant step in the ongoing conflict between the two countries. The exchange, which took place in the United Arab Emirates, saw the return of 230 Ukrainian prisoners of war and 248 Russian servicemen.
This exchange, sponsored by the United Arab Emirates, is a testament to the strong diplomatic relations between the UAE, Russia, and Ukraine. Despite the ongoing conflict, the UAE has maintained close economic ties with Moscow, demonstrating its commitment to facilitating peace and stability in the region.
Ukraine’s human rights ombudsman, Dmytro Lubinets, emphasized the significance of this exchange, stating that it was the 49th prisoner exchange during the war.
