Oliver Tree, the singer, among passengers in fatal helicopter collision that claimed 6 lives

RIO DE JANEIRO — A tragic incident unfolded in the skies above Rio de Janeiro on Sunday morning as two helicopters⁤ collided‌ and crashed in the city’s western zone. The ​devastating accident claimed the lives of all six ⁢individuals on board, according to local firefighters.

The Military Fire Department of Rio de ​Janeiro ​reported⁣ that one of the‍ helicopters plummeted onto‍ a car⁣ dealership’s parking lot, where numerous electric vehicles were stationed. This resulted in a fire outbreak, which was⁣ subsequently put out by the firefighters.

Authorities have launched an investigation to ascertain the circumstances that led to this ‌unfortunate collision. The cause of the accident remains unknown at this time.

Police reports indicate that the‌ passenger list⁤ handed over to‍ aviation authorities included the name⁣ of American singer and comedian, Oliver Tree. However, the⁤ identification of the crash victims is still in progress.

Tree had recently performed in Buenos Aires on June 4 and had shared a video on ⁤his Instagram account‌ on Saturday, showing him⁢ playing soccer ​in a local Brazilian neighborhood.

Argentine streaming channel, ⁣Blender, revealed ‍that popular content creator Gaspar Prim Díaz, also known by his online alias Gaspi, was aboard‍ one ⁤of the ill-fated helicopters.⁤ Gaspi, who was only 23, had amassed⁢ a following of over 2.8 million on YouTube.

Blender paid tribute⁢ to the young ⁣creator on its X account, saying, “Thanks for your art, your magic, and your sensibility,⁢ every one of us will miss you.”

Fernandes de Freitas, a local tire repair worker, recounted the horrifying scene. He witnessed⁣ one of the helicopters engulfed in flames after⁤ the midair collision and saw a​ passenger leap from the ​other aircraft before ‍it crashed. “It was terrifying, absolutely horrifying,” De Freitas said.

On⁤ a lighter note, Tree was scheduled to perform at The Complex in Salt Lake City on‌ Aug. 15 as part ‍of his world tour.
