The Schenectady County Legislature recently announced the winners of the 54th Annual Holiday Parade, which had a “New York State of Mind” theme. The parade featured over 100 floats, marching bands, and performers, and took place in downtown Schenectady on November 18, 2023.
The award winners were presented with plaques and certificates from the Legislature. The winners included:

Movement and Dance:
Schenectady High School Dance Team
Live Musical Performance:
Schenectady Caribbean Day
Red Suspenders Award:
Stanford Heights Fire Department
The parade was organized by the City and County of Schenectady, with MVP Health Care serving as the primary sponsor. Other organizations involved in the parade’s success included the Downtown Schenectady Improvement Corporation, The Capital Region Chamber, and Discover Schenectady.
Cathy Gatta, Schenectady County legislator and chair of the Tourism, Arts & Special Events Committee, expressed her gratitude to the groups and organizations that participated in making the parade a success.
“The residents and visitors from around the Capital region and beyond are what makes this event truly special. We thank our sponsors and everyone who contributed to the festivities for helping to ensure the parade remains a beloved tradition for our community,” Gatta said in a release.
