NEW YORK – Federal Appeals Court Upholds New York Gun Laws
Following a landmark Supreme Court ruling last year, a federal appeals court has ruled in favor of New York’s new gun laws, allowing the state to enforce bans on firearms in sensitive locations and maintain the requirement that handgun owners be of “good moral character.”
However, the court also blocked some aspects of the new gun licensing rules, including the requirement for applicants to disclose their social media accounts. Additionally, the state can no longer enforce the law that made it a crime to carry a concealed gun onto private property without the owner’s consent.
