SCHENECTADY – Rotterdam Man Arrested for Hit-and-Run

A Rotterdam ‌man has been arrested in connection with Monday morning’s hit-and-run that injured a ‍pedestrian on⁤ Route 7, ​police said Tuesday.

The pedestrian, a 15-year-old, is currently being ⁢treated at ⁣Albany Medical Center. Police did ​not provide further ‍information‌ on the teen’s status.

Charged in ​the case is Peter J. Greisler, 29, of Rotterdam. Greisler now faces one ⁣count ‌of leaving the scene of ⁣a serious personal‌ injury​ accident, a felony, along with violation failure to yield the right of way to a ⁢pedestrian in a crosswalk.

Details of the Incident

The hit-and-run ⁣happened at approximately ​5:09⁢ a.m.⁤ at​ the intersection of Albany Street and Route 7, police said.

Police were called to the scene by a motorist ‍and someone at a local business who spotted⁤ the teen victim lying⁤ in the ‍road, police‌ said.

Police believed the vehicle that‌ struck‍ the ​pedestrian was ​traveling ⁣southbound on Route 7, from Schenectady towards Rotterdam when​ it⁣ struck the victim.

The incident serves ⁢as a ⁣reminder ‍for drivers to ⁢be cautious and attentive, especially in areas‌ with pedestrian crossings.
