SCHENECTADY – Rotterdam Man Arrested for Hit-and-Run
A Rotterdam man has been arrested in connection with Monday morning’s hit-and-run that injured a pedestrian on Route 7, police said Tuesday.
The pedestrian, a 15-year-old, is currently being treated at Albany Medical Center. Police did not provide further information on the teen’s status.
Charged in the case is Peter J. Greisler, 29, of Rotterdam. Greisler now faces one count of leaving the scene of a serious personal injury accident, a felony, along with violation failure to yield the right of way to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.
Details of the Incident
The hit-and-run happened at approximately 5:09 a.m. at the intersection of Albany Street and Route 7, police said.
Police were called to the scene by a motorist and someone at a local business who spotted the teen victim lying in the road, police said.
Police believed the vehicle that struck the pedestrian was traveling southbound on Route 7, from Schenectady towards Rotterdam when it struck the victim.
The incident serves as a reminder for drivers to be cautious and attentive, especially in areas with pedestrian crossings.
