Two individuals arrested for Schenectady homicide on Tuesday evening, according to police

SCHENECTADY – Two young men have been arrested in connection to the tragic shooting of a 21-year-old Schenectady resident in the Hamilton Hill neighborhood.

Jevoun Drake, 18, ⁤of Schenectady and Jose‌ Amey, 18, of Troy, were taken into custody ⁢on Wednesday afternoon.

Usman Pirzada was shot at around 8:49 ​p.m. ⁤on Tuesday. Police found him with a gunshot wound at the intersection of Lincoln Avenue and Steuben Street. Despite being rushed to Albany Medical ​Center, he tragically passed ⁣away early Wednesday morning.

Drake has been charged with second-degree murder, first-degree⁤ robbery with‌ a firearm, and ⁤second-degree criminal‌ possession of a weapon. He was‌ arraigned on Wednesday and is currently being held at the Schenectady County Jail.

Amey, on the other hand, faces charges of first-degree robbery and is scheduled to be arraigned in county court on Thursday.

The Schenectady‌ Police ​Department released a⁢ statement acknowledging the ‌collaborative efforts of law enforcement agencies, including the New York State⁣ Police and the Troy Police Department, ‍in making the arrests.

The successful outcome in making these arrests in such a ⁣relatively short time frame is due in large part to the immediate response of patrol, the extensive efforts of detectives,⁢ and the collaboration​ with partner law enforcement agencies.
