New York City – The American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network has applauded Governor Hochul’s recent signing of a bill that aims to improve access to effective cancer treatments and pave the way in the fight against cancer. Lisa Lacasse, President of ACS CAN, expressed pride in New York’s commitment to health equity and medical innovation, joining thirteen other states in enacting similar legislation.
The governor’s office also highlighted five additional laws that will address various critical issues in the public health system, including staffing shortages in nursing homes, administrative relief for local health departments, and the re-establishment of the Adult Cystic Fibrosis Assistance Program. Governor Hochul emphasized the importance of expanding access to essential health services and addressing the pressing issues facing New Yorkers’ health and safety.
