Smith’s performance leads Schalmont to victory in Section 2 boys’ basketball; Schenectady secures third consecutive win

SATURDAY, DEC. 23

Isaiah Smith scored 10 of his 19 points in the fourth quarter to help Schoharie hold on for a 50-45 non-league victory over Scotia-Glenville.

The Sabres had a 33-18 lead at halftime, thanks to a 24-point second quarter. They made six 3-pointers in the quarter.

Wyatt Ossenfort and Fermin Fabian each scored 16 points for the Tartans.

Queensbury dropped a 45-31 non-league decision to Canton. Troy Jorgensen led the Spartans with 10 points.

FRIDAY, DEC. 22

Andre Jackson scored 23 of his 33 points in the second half to spearhead Schenectady’s 86-70 Suburban Council win over Troy. Yahir Jackson scored 23 in the Patriots’ third straight victory, and Quy-Maine Haggray had 14. Stetson Merritt paced Troy with 28 points, and Legend Merritt had 12.

Eric Pickering scored 19 points, and Guillermo Martinez put in 18 to lift Middleburgh over OESJ 56-35 in a Western Athletic Conference game. Middleburgh used a 22-8 third-quarter run to all but seal the victory. Collin Eakin scored 20 points for OESJ, which included a 10-for-12 effort from the line.

Fonda-Fultonville beat Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons 56-39 behind Riley Wilson’s 13 points. Esiasyn Starr scored 11 for the Knights.

Schoharie topped Mayfield 66-43. Matt Bernhardt scored 22 to lead the Storm to victory. Andrew Martin and Preston DiGiovanni each added 10. For Mayfield, Sean Foreman led with 13. Brody Page had 12.

Brody Holcomb rang up 27 points, Kennen Driscoll put in 19 and Cooper Nadlert had 10 as Glens Falls ran away from Johnstown in a 96-38 Foothills Council win. Driscoll scored 12 points in the first quarter, and Holcomb added 10 when the Black Bears opened up a 31-4 lead. Braeden Fennessy led Johnstown with eight points.

Rocco Insonia clicked for 26 points, and nine other Gloversville players found the scorebook in a 64-42 win over Broadalbin-Perth. Jeravontae Russell scored 12 for the Patriots, and Max Hale had 10.

Aundray Fowler led four Amsterdam players in double-figure scoring with 19 points as the Rams defeated Scotia-Glenville 62-48. Jude Flint scored 16 points for the Rams, Luis Tirado had 11 and CJ Miller added 10. Bryce Geniti led the Tartans with 14 points, Melvin Corker scored 11 and Fermin Fabian had 10.

Landon Casey and Ryan Fitzsimmons scored 21 and 18 points, respectively, and South Glens Falls led from the first quarter on in a 65-45 win over Hudson Falls. Brady Smith scored 13 points for the Tigers, and Nathan Gonyeau had 11.

Troy Jorgensen scored 17 points in Queensbury’s 49-45 win over Schuylerville, which got 18 points from Griffen Brophy and 17 from Lucas Sherman.

Amsterdam defeated Scotia-Glenville 62-48 behind Aundray Fowler’s 19 points. Jude Flint added 16, while Luis Tirado and Rhys Urbanczyk scored 11 and 10, respectively. Bryre Geniti led the Tartans with 14 points. Melvin Corker scored 11, and Fermin Fabian had 10.

Brady Eitleman and Tom Novotny combined for nine 3s and 37 points to spark Voorheesville’s 65-45 Colonial Council win against Ichabod Crane. Eitleman led the Blackbirds with 20 points, and Novotny had a game-best 5 3s. Thomas Burns added 11 points for Voorheesville.

Darien Moore scored 29 points, and Sei’Mir Roberson scored 20 to lead Catholic Central to a 73-52 win over La Salle. Treddy Faison had 22 for the Cadets.

Mohonasen topped Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk 64-31. Tracy Battle led the victors with 19 points. Jacob Paolino added 15. Jason Reif’s 11 led Ravena.

Cam LaClair scored 23 points, Kieran Barnes had 16 and Sean Ryan chipped in with 12 for Bethlehem in a 56-53 non-league win over Hoosic Valley. Isaac Wiley paced Hoosic Valley with 18 points, and Chris Jones had 14.

U’Mier Graham worked for 21 points and 20 rebounds, and Haisi Mayben collected 19 points and 10 assists as Green Tech beat Poughkeepsie 81-53.

THURSDAY, DEC. 21

The Lansingburgh boys’ basketball team defeated Schalmont in overtime 65-62 for a Colonial Council win. Aayden Green scored 25 points in the win for the Knights, while Markous Green put up 23. Isaiah Smith led Schalmont with 21 points, as Curtis Brosious and Ryan Woodrow each scored 12 points and Nick Masik had 10

Columbia defeated Guilderland 43-35 in the Suburban Council. Evan Rainville led Columbia with 18 points, while Nico Santabarbra had 14 for Guilderland.

Hoosick Falls earned a 66-53 Wasaren League win over Hoosic Valley. Carson Glover led in scoring with 15 points, and Andrew Sparks tacked on 12. Chris Jones had 12 points for Hoosic Valley, while Isaac Wiley had 11 points and Landon Reilly had 10.

Saratoga Central Catholic downed Greenwich 75-47. Tyler HIcks’ 21 paced the Saints, with Ryan Gillis adding 20 and Hunter Fales scoring 12. Cal Curtis’ 13 led Greenwich.

Watervliet defeated Germantown 59-35 in the Patroon Conference as Daheem Wilson racked up 27 points and Trevor Holloway had 12 in the win. Germantown’s Kyan Anderson scored 12 points.
