Schenectady Pedestrian Hospitalized After Being Struck by Vehicle
SCHENECTADY – A pedestrian was hospitalized after being struck by a vehicle Tuesday night on Van Vranken Avenue, police said.
The incident occurred at the 1600 block of Van Vranken Avenue shortly after 9 p.m. The pedestrian, who has not been identified, was found unconscious and appeared to be in critical condition, according to a news release from the Schenectady Police Department.
The pedestrian was transported to Albany Medical Center, and the status of their injuries was unclear as of Wednesday morning.
The driver involved in the incident is cooperating with the investigation, according to police.
Van Vranken Avenue was temporarily closed between Kenwood Avenue and Mason Street, but police expected the roadway to be reopened shortly. The crash remains under investigation, and more details are expected to be released as they become available.
