Pedestrian from Van Vranken still in critical condition after Tuesday accident

SCHENECTADY – Pedestrian in ​Critical Condition After Being Struck by Vehicle

A pedestrian is in critical condition after being struck‍ by ​a ⁣vehicle on Van Vranken Avenue earlier‍ this week, according to‍ police.

The individual, who remains unidentified, was‌ found ​unconscious at the 1600 block of Van Vranken Avenue and was‍ transported to Albany Medical Center after the incident.

Authorities had previously stated that the individual appeared​ to be in critical condition following the accident.

Van Vranken‌ Avenue⁣ was closed for investigation between Kenwood Avenue ‍and Mason Street, and no charges have been filed against the driver at this time.

Police Lt. Peter Montalto stated ​that​ the driver ⁢is cooperating with the⁣ investigation and no charges are expected to be⁣ filed.

The Schenectady Police ‍Traffic Division, ‌Evidence Technician Unit, and the Schenectady County Crash​ Reconstruction Team are all involved in the investigation.
