Evelyn Murphy | Age 86

Evelyn Murphy passed on at the age of 87, remembered for her boundless energy and the warmth of her smile.

Evelyn was born in the bustling city of Troy, New York, a place she would always call home. As a young woman, she became an esteemed educator in the local school district, dedicating over 40 years to inspiring her students with a passion for learning and a sense of civic duty.

Her retirement was just as active as her career, filled with gardening, volunteer work at the local community center, and her famous Sunday dinners that brought the entire family together. Evelyn was known for her exquisite quilting, a craft she passed down to her children and grandchildren, stitching love and history into every piece.

Evelyn is survived by her three children, Anne, Richard, and James; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren, all of whom she adored and instilled with her zest for life. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Michael Murphy, and her sister, Margaret.

The service to celebrate Evelyn’s life will be as bright and welcoming as she was, held in the garden she loved, at the local botanical club next Sunday afternoon. Friends and family are invited to come together to honor a life lived with love, laughter, and grace.
