Schenectady apartment house sustains damage in early Friday fire

SCHENECTADY – Early Morning Fire Damages Apartment House

An early Friday fire damaged a​ four-unit⁤ apartment house on University Place in Schenectady, leading the Red Cross to assist seven occupants, Fire Chief Don Mareno ⁢said. Fortunately,⁣ no ​injuries were reported.

According to Mareno, firefighters were called to the residence at 1029 University Place shortly⁢ after 2 a.m. Friday.

Upon arrival, firefighters found smoke coming from the ​second⁢ floor rear apartment and were able to contain the blaze to that apartment.

Thanks to their quick response, firefighters had the blaze under control‌ in just ⁢25 minutes, Mareno said.

The Red Cross was working with the seven occupants affected by the fire, providing​ them with ​assistance. The cause of ​the fire remained ​under investigation later Friday morning.
