Watson’s Heroic Performance Leads RPI to Victory
Goalie Jack Watson put on a show, making an impressive 37 saves to lead the RPI men’s hockey team to a thrilling 2-1 ECAC Hockey victory over Brown at Houston Field House. Watson, who missed Friday’s game against Yale due to illness, came back with a vengeance, stopping 22 shots in the third period to secure the win for his team.
John Evans also played a pivotal role in the victory, scoring the game-winning goal on a penalty shot early in the third period. Evans, who had earlier assisted on Tyler Hotson’s second-period goal, sealed the deal with his clutch performance.
“It was a hard-fought game, and I’m proud of the way our team battled,” said head coach Mike Smith. “Watson was outstanding in goal, and Evans came through in the clutch. It was a great team effort.”
