One person injured in shooting in Schenectady on Wednesday

SCHENECTADY – A shooting Wednesday evening in Schenectady left one man injured, police said.

The man was taken to Albany Medical Center with a gunshot wound to his leg, police said.

The shooting happened just before 7 p.m. on Albany Street. Officers responded to the area of 736 Albany St., Hillside Crossing, for multiple 911 calls for shots fired in the area, police said.

Officers then found evidence of a shooting and then found a man who had fled the scene with a gunshot wound to his leg, police said.

Schenectady Fire Department paramedics treated the man on the scene and he was taken on to Albany Medical Center for further treatment.

The incident remained under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the police tips line at 518-788-6566.
