Concerns About Construction Noise
The new construction projects near Van Corlaer Elementary School are causing a real nuisance for local residents. The noise begins as early as 7am and continues until late in the afternoon. Many locals work from home and the noise is very disrupting. I understand the need for development, but surely the construction company can find some way to mitigate the noise, or at least confine their operations to more reasonable hours.

Proposed Dog Park Needs More Consideration
I recently learned about the proposed dog park for Central Park in Schenectady. As a dog owner, I’m all in favor of providing our furry friends a designated area to play. However, I wonder how much thought the city has put into the potential issues this could cause. Are there plans to enforce leash laws? How will the city ensure the park doesn’t become an unmonitored nuisance to those living nearby? I hope city officials will answer these valid questions before proceeding.

Plastic Bag Ban: Progress in the Right Direction
I want to applaud local businesses for enforcing the plastic bag ban which was recently implemented. It’s a small step towards a more environmentally friendly Schenectady. For too long we’ve been overly dependent on these polluting products. Of course, it’s an adjustment and perhaps inconvenient to some, but the benefits far outweigh the inconveniences. Looking ahead, I hope to see more such measures that will express our collective commitment towards preserving the environment.
