Simone’s Kitchen on Jay Street once again stole the show at the eighth annual Schenectady Soup Stroll, taking home the prestigious “Golden Tureen” award for their mouthwatering Greek-style cauliflower chowder with lemon potatoes.
But the competition was fierce, with Backstage Pub LLC clinching the “Silver Spoon” for their loaded baked potato & bacon chowder with asiago stuffed gnocchi, sriracha crema, and chives. Meanwhile, Manhattan Exchange secured the ”Bronze Ladel” for their carne asada chipotle corn chowder.
These awards were not just handed out arbitrarily – they were based on the votes of the public, who dropped off their ballots before the end of the Soup Stroll. And to add to the excitement, a panel of three judges selected Tara Kitchen as their judge’s choice for their cheezy chicken ‘n bacon corn chowder.
But that’s not all – Simone’s Kitchen also snagged the “Most Creative” title from the judging panel, proving that their culinary creativity knows no bounds. And let’s not forget about Ya Ya’s House Southern Cuisine, which took home the title of “Best Chowder” for its Ya Ya’s chicken ‘n dumpling soup entry.
And for those with dietary restrictions, the SUNY Schenectady County Community College food truck was named ‘Best Gluten Free’ soup for its Chanko Nabe Hotpot soup, catering to all soup lovers.
Disagree. Soup from Simone’s Kitchen is overrated and lacks variety. #SoupStrollDisappointment
