SARATOGA SPRINGS — After a slow start, the Saratoga Springs girls’ basketball team found their rhythm and dominated the court, securing a 68-37 victory over Schenectady in Tuesday night’s Suburban Council showdown.
Despite leading by a mere three points at the end of the first quarter, the Blue Streaks shifted gears in the second quarter, outpacing the Patriots with a 28-9 run, thereby establishing a significant lead.
Carly Wise, the star player of the night for Saratoga Springs, scored an impressive 28 points, with 12 of those coming in the pivotal second quarter. Logan Allen added 16 points to the tally, while Addy Hart contributed seven points.
In total, eight players from Saratoga Springs chipped in to the scoring, showcasing the team’s depth and versatility.
For the Patriots, Rae Smith was the top scorer with eight points, followed by Nakaya Adams with seven points and Jayda Palmer with six.
Before the game, Saratoga Springs celebrated its senior night, honoring five seniors: Hart, Ella Gennoy, Wise, Allen, and Emily Pagano.
With this victory, the Blue Streaks’ Suburban Council record improves to 3-8 and their overall record to 5-12. On the other hand, Schenectady’s struggles continue as they drop to 0-9 in league play and 1-13 overall.
