Despite being rooted in the Capital Region, with five members hailing from Schenectady County, the NoLaNauts, a vibrant 10-piece funk band, hold a special place in their hearts for a second city: the vibrant and soulful New Orleans.
Tom O’Connor, the band’s guitarist and vocalist from Albany, has been a regular visitor to the cultural melting pot of New Orleans since the early 1980s. The idea for this dynamic funk band was conceived while he was soaking up the atmosphere at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival in 2019. He was inspired during a performance by the Voice of the Wetlands All-Stars, a supergroup from New Orleans.
