Elizabeth Wamp, a standout midfielder for the Siena women’s lacrosse team, was honored with the title of MAAC Rookie of the Week this Monday. This recognition came after she played a pivotal role in the Saints’ historic victory over a top-25 ranked opponent in the IWLCA, specifically the No. 18 Army West Point, with a close score of 12-11 last Saturday.
Wamp’s decisive contribution came in the form of the go-ahead goal, scored with just 2:43 remaining on the clock. The shot initially seemed to be saved by the Black Knights’ goalie, Anderson Strange, but it managed to find its way into the goal. Wamp, who was a 2023 US Lacrosse All-American during her time at Berkshire High, ended the game with two goals and a ground ball to her name.
Looking ahead, Siena (1-1) is set to host Dartmouth (0-1) at 2 p.m. this Wednesday.
