SCHENECTADY – A shocking incident occurred on Saturday evening when a pedestrian was critically injured after being struck by a vehicle in the vicinity of State and Hulett streets, according to local law enforcement.
The pedestrian, identified as Luis Dones, a resident of Schenectady, was reported to be in a critical state on Sunday. As of Tuesday morning, there was no immediate update available on his condition.
The unfortunate incident took place shortly after 8 p.m. on Saturday, as reported by the police.
Officers present at the scene witnessed the collision involving a single vehicle and the pedestrian, the police reported.
Emergency medical treatment was provided to the pedestrian at the scene by paramedics from the Schenectady Fire Department. He was subsequently transported to Albany Medical Center for further medical attention, as per the police report.
The driver of the vehicle was identified as Josef Jarvis, a resident of Albany. He remained at the scene and has been cooperative with the investigation, according to the police. It was also discovered that Jarvis was driving with a suspended license and he was subsequently charged with aggravated unlicensed operation.
The police department’s traffic division, crime scene unit, and the Schenectady County Crash Reconstruction team were all called to the scene to conduct a thorough investigation.
The exact cause of the crash is still under investigation.
