Weekend Car-Pedestrian Collision in Schenectady Leaves Pedestrian Injured, According to Police

SCHENECTADY – A shocking incident ‌occurred on Saturday evening when a ​pedestrian was critically injured after being struck by a vehicle in the vicinity of State and Hulett streets, according ⁤to local law enforcement.

The pedestrian, identified as⁢ Luis Dones, ​a resident of Schenectady, was reported to be‌ in a ‍critical state on Sunday. As⁢ of Tuesday morning, ⁤there was no immediate update⁣ available​ on ‌his condition.

The unfortunate ⁣incident ⁣took place shortly after 8 p.m. on Saturday, as reported by ‌the police.

Officers present at the scene witnessed ⁢the ​collision involving a ⁤single vehicle and‌ the pedestrian,‍ the‍ police reported.

Emergency medical ‍treatment was⁣ provided to the pedestrian at the scene by paramedics from the Schenectady Fire⁤ Department.⁤ He⁢ was subsequently transported to ⁢Albany Medical Center for further medical ‌attention, as per the police⁣ report.

The‌ driver of the vehicle was identified as Josef Jarvis, a⁢ resident of Albany. He remained at‌ the scene‌ and has been cooperative with the investigation, according to the police.‌ It was also ⁣discovered that Jarvis was driving with a suspended ⁤license and he was subsequently ⁤charged with aggravated unlicensed operation.

The ⁤police department’s traffic ⁣division, crime scene unit, and the Schenectady County ‍Crash Reconstruction team were ⁤all called to the ​scene to conduct a ‍thorough‌ investigation.

The exact cause⁤ of the crash is still under investigation.
