With a triumphant 46-30 subregional win over Saranac from Section 7, the Albany Academy girls’ basketball team has successfully advanced to the NYSPHSAA Class B regional championship. The game took place on a thrilling Wednesday night.
Alex Leonard was the star of the game for Albany Academy, contributing a whopping 16 points. Not far behind, Eva Gitto added nine points to the team’s total.
With an impressive 20-3 overall record, The Bears are now preparing to take on Gouverneur from Section 10. The match is scheduled for Saturday at 1 p.m. and will be held at SUNY Potsdam.
In the Class A subregional contest, Catholic Central emerged victorious over Indian River from Section 3 with a close score of 50-45. El’Dior Dobere led the Crusaders with an impressive 19 points, while Tanavia Turpin added 17. Gabriella DiBacco and Kristen Foglia also contributed, each scoring six points.
With a stellar 22-1 overall record, Catholic Central is now gearing up to face Beekmantown from Section 7 in a Class A regional. The game is set to take place on Friday at 6 p.m. at Saranac High School.
