Mother Nature has claimed her first win of the season, as torrential rains led to the delay of Albany-Saratoga’s season opener, as well as the open practice sessions scheduled at Fonda and Utica-Rome Speedways and the Lebanon Valley Kart Track.
The 59th Season-opener at Albany-Saratoga Speedway, originally scheduled for last Friday, has been rescheduled for this coming Friday.
Utica-Rome Speedway had planned to host an open practice Friday night, but due to adverse weather conditions and waterlogged grounds, the management decided to postpone the practice session to Tuesday night. Gates will open at 5 p.m. with cars taking to the track from 6:30-9:30 p.m.
Admission to the pit is $35, while entry to the grandstand is free of charge.
The open practice session at Fonda Speedway, initially set for Saturday, has been rescheduled for Wednesday night.
This will be the first time cars will be on the racing surface after it underwent a complete resurfacing with fresh clay during the offseason. The track crew has been diligently working on the surface and removing stones found in a couple of truckloads.
Gates will open at 4:30 p.m. with cars taking to the track from 6-9 p.m.
Admission to the pit is $35, while entry to the grandstand is free of charge.
Utica-Rome Speedway is set to kick off its season on Friday with all weekly divisions in action and featuring the $6,800-to-win ‘Honoring Alex’ for modifieds.
Fonda Speedway is set to commence its 73rd consecutive season Saturday with the running of the ‘Jumpin’ Jack Johnson Memorial, a 40-lap, $12,000-to-win main event for the modifieds highlighting the race program.
The practice at the Lebanon Valley Kart Track was also a victim of the inclement weather and has been rescheduled for Saturday.
Lebanon Valley Speedway will host an open practice session Saturday ahead of its 72nd season opener on April 27.
Glen Ridge Motorsports Park has scheduled an open practice for April 27 ahead of its May 5 opening night.
Devil’s Bowl Speedway has two practice sessions planned for this Saturday and April 27 ahead of its 58th season opener on May 4, featuring the 32-lap, $3,200-to-win “Matty B” Matt Bilodeau Memorial for sportsman modifieds.
STEWART FRIESEN’S STRONG PERFORMANCE IN TEXAS
Stewart Friesen qualified third for the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series SpeedyCash.com 250 at Texas Motor Speedway Friday in a Chili’s Grill and Bar-sponsored truck with a unique graphic.
Friesen finished the opening stage in fifth before dropping back in the second stage. He finished in 13th after a late-race spin to avoid an accident in the final stage.
