Garnet Chargers of Union Women’s Lacrosse Triumph Over Clarkson


In an exhilarating display of skill and determination,‌ Anna Smith netted two goals within a minute during ⁣the final quarter on Friday. This impressive feat‌ propelled Union to a thrilling 17-15 victory over Clarkson⁤ in ⁢the⁣ Liberty League women’s lacrosse match‌ at⁣ Frank Bailey Field.

Smith’s initial goal, which came with 10:17 remaining on the clock, pushed ​the Garnet Chargers (5-2 LL, 7-4 overall) into a 13-12 lead. She then⁢ quickly followed up‍ with another goal just 41 seconds ⁣later, extending the lead to 14-12.

Maddy Schiller then added to Union’s tally with a⁢ goal at the 8:54 ⁣mark, giving Union a comfortable three-goal cushion.

Smith’s⁣ contribution to the ⁢game was not‍ just⁢ limited to⁣ her⁤ goals. She also provided two assists. Gillian Joseph matched Smith’s scoring prowess with four goals of her own,​ while Greta Maurer⁤ chipped in with three‍ goals‍ and three assists.

On the‌ Clarkson side, Madelynn‌ Barnum was the standout performer ​with eight goals.

Union’s next match is at home against St. Lawrence, scheduled for 3 p.m. on Saturday.
