Saratoga Sheriff Accuses Schenectady Woman of Stealing $50K from Malta Employer

MALTA – In ‌a shocking turn of events, a woman​ from Schenectady has been apprehended ‍and charged. She is alleged to have embezzled over $50,000 from a residential⁢ apartment complex in Malta where she⁢ was ⁣employed, as per the Saratoga County ‌Sheriff’s ⁣department.

The accused,⁤ Jacqueline Shafer, 47, a resident of Schenectady, was taken into custody on May 25. She faces serious charges of ⁢second-degree grand ⁤larceny and second-degree⁢ forgery.

According to⁢ the authorities, Shafer is believed to have siphoned off more than $50,000 during her tenure⁢ at the Malta apartment ‍complex. The alleged ‍embezzlement took place between August 2021 and April 2022.

After her arraignment, Shafer was released with instructions to appear in court at a later date.
