SCHENECTADY – A dramatic incident unfolded in Schenectady when a local man, who allegedly threatened individuals with a machete, was hit by a vehicle, according to police reports.
Fortunately, no other individuals involved in the alarming event sustained any injuries, as confirmed by a police representative.
The man, who was reportedly wielding the machete, has been identified as Jai Heath, a 45-year-old resident of Schenectady. He was promptly transported to Albany Medical Center for medical attention. The extent of his injuries remains undisclosed at this time.
The incident took place around 8 p.m. on Gray Street, in close proximity to Helderberg Avenue, as per the police statement.
Heath is alleged to have brandished the machete in a threatening manner towards his family members, and was subsequently struck by a car during the course of the incident, added the police spokesperson.
Heath now faces charges of second-degree menacing, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, and fourth-degree criminal mischief, all of which are misdemeanors.
