SCHENECTADY - Federal authorities announced on Wednesday that a local man from Schenectady has confessed to the distribution of fentanyl pills.
Omar Wynn, a 31-year-old resident of Schenectady, has officially pleaded guilty to the charge of distributing a controlled substance, as per the statement from the prosecutors.
Wynn confessed to the sale of approximately 1,500 fentanyl pills and 8.6 grams of cocaine base in the year 2023. The fentanyl pills were misleadingly marked with “M30” to give the impression that they were oxycodone, added the prosecutors.
Furthermore, Wynn has agreed to surrender $3,000, which are the proceeds from his illicit activities, according to the prosecutors.
Wynn’s sentencing is scheduled for March. He could potentially face a minimum of five years to a maximum of 40 years behind bars, warned the prosecutors.
The investigation was carried out by the Drug Enforcement Administration, with the Schenectady Police Department providing valuable assistance. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Jonathan S. Reiner.
