There’s a consistent theme of average performances in The Daily Gazette ECAC Hockey Faceoff Selections.
Most players had a mixed bag of results in Week 5, with scores of either 5-4-2 or 4-5-2. Some intriguing outcomes led to these records, including Quinnipiac’s surprising double loss at home, Harvard’s double victory, and Union’s tie and loss against Alaska Fairbanks.
However, three players managed to break away from the pack. Andrew Santillo, the temporary play-by-play commentator for Union men’s hockey (filling in for Matt Dubrey who is currently battling leukemia), achieved a 6-2-1 record. He doesn’t pick the Union games he calls. SageNet and Brian Unger also performed well, each scoring 6-3-2. SageNet’s performance allowed him to tie for second place with me, who was among the 4-5-2 players.
