Charges Filed: Duo Allegedly Involved in Drug Trafficking Operation in Schenectady County

ALBANY – ‍A federal drug indictment has been issued against two​ individuals, implicating them in a drug trafficking operation in Schenectady County.

Michael‌ Garcia, a 27-year-old from California, and Terence Butler, ⁣a 36-year-old resident of Schenectady, are each facing a single federal ⁢charge of conspiracy ⁢to distribute and possess with intent to⁢ distribute ⁢controlled substances, as ⁣per the details of the federal indictment.

The‍ indictment was officially presented ​on November 21.

According ⁤to the indictment, the duo is alleged to have conspired to distribute⁢ the controlled substances ‍from July 2022 through to April 2024.

Garcia‌ is specifically accused of being‌ involved with ‌500 grams or more of a mixture containing methamphetamine, 400⁣ grams or more of a mixture containing fentanyl, and 500​ grams or more of a mixture containing cocaine, as stated in the indictment.

Butler,‍ on the ⁤other hand, is accused of being involved with 500 grams or more of a mixture and substance containing a detectible amount of cocaine, as​ per the indictment.

The indictment, however, did not elaborate on the specifics of the accusations.

Prosecutors did not request Butler’s detention pending trial. Following a hearing, he was released ‍under certain conditions.

On the contrary, prosecutors sought Garcia’s detention pending trial. A hearing was scheduled for Wednesday, but the outcome of‍ that hearing was not available as of Friday.
