Frustrations Over Rising Property Taxes
I am deeply concerned about the ongoing discussion related to property tax increases in our city. While I understand the financial challenges that Schenectady faces, it’s important to consider the hardships it imposes on the residents. We are already grappling with financial strains resulting from the economic impediments due to COVID-19. I sincerely hope that our leaders will come up with alternative solutions or measures to address this problem.

Concern about Inadequate Street Lighting in Mont Pleasant Neighborhood
Dark, silent streets are a calling card for criminal activity and traffic accidents. It is alarming that our Mont Pleasant neighborhood has such poor street lighting. Last week, I almost hit a pedestrian while driving at night. They were hard to spot in the visibility offered by the present street lighting. I kindly urge the concerned authorities to increase the number of street lights and ensure their regular maintenance for the safety of residents.

Celebrating Diversity Through Food Festivals
It was heartening to see our community celebrate the multicultural food festival held last weekend in Central Park. These celebrations speak volumes about our community, our hospitality, and our ability to embrace diversity. Such events not only bring community members closer but also set an example for the younger generation. I hope WHNY News will continue to cover more of these positive stories to foster unity and diversity within our wonderful city.
