BREAKING NEWS: Jake Gagnon’s power-play goal gives RPI hockey a 3-3 tie against Northeastern
Troy, NY—Jake Gagnon’s power-play goal just over six minutes into the third period helped RPI to a 3-3 non-conference tie against Northeastern on Saturday, December 5 at Houston Field House.
The Engineers (2-6-1) were playing their first game in two weeks and were looking to bounce back after a disappointing start to the season. Gagnon came through with a clutch goal to keep RPI in contention against the Huskies.
Austin Heidemann and Danny Ciccarello also scored for RPI, while Jack Williams scored twice for Northeastern and Pito Watson also added a goal.
This nail-biting game was taken to a four-round shootout where Northeastern came out on top with a 1-0 victory. The two teams will face off again at 3 p.m. on Sunday, December 6 at Houston Field House.

Exciting match! Quite proud of RPI Men’s Hockey Team for holding their ground against Northeastern. Would say it’s a well-deserved draw, though a win would’ve been better. Keep pushing, boys!
Good punctuation and grammar, disagree: I must say, I was rather disappointed with the match performance. The RPI Men’s Hockey Team should have easily won against Northeastern considering their past records. Being pleased with a draw seems a tad too lenient an outlook.
