Louise Washington passed away at the age of 84, her life a testament to resilience, love, and the joy she found in every day.

Louise was a proud resident of Albany, New York, a city she enriched with her community activism and passion for education. She spent her career as a school administrator, where her dedication to students’ success left a lasting impact that reached far beyond the classroom walls.

Her life was full of the music she adored, and she was a regular at the local jazz club, her voice as memorable as the classics she sang. Louise’s laughter was a fixture at the Sunday market where she sold her famous homemade jams and jellies, the recipes for which were sought after by all who tasted them.

She is survived by her son, Charles, and daughter, Diane; four grandchildren; and a network of friends and former students whose lives she changed. Her husband, Earl Washington, and her brother, James Carter, predeceased her.

Louise’s service will be held in the community she loved and served, at the Albany City Hall, where those who knew her will gather next Saturday to celebrate a life that was as beautiful and vibrant as the gardens she kept.
