Robert McCarthy left us at the age of 81, his life an enduring legacy of perseverance, wisdom, and compassionate leadership.

Robert was a lifelong resident of Niskayuna, a town close to Schenectady, New York. He was known as a dedicated family man and a respected figure in the local business community, where he ran a successful insurance agency for over five decades. His work ethic and integrity set a standard in the industry and provided a model of professionalism for his peers.

Beyond his business achievements, Robert was a passionate advocate for education, serving on the school board and frequently volunteering for after-school programs. He loved sailing on Saratoga Lake, teaching his grandchildren to navigate both the waters and the challenges of life.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Elaine; their three children, Daniel, Sarah, and James; and eight grandchildren, who will carry forward his legacy of kindness and his love for the New York Giants.

The service for Robert will be a gathering of family, friends, and those whose lives he impacted. It will be held at the community center where he often volunteered, next Tuesday afternoon. Those who knew him are invited to join in celebrating the life of a man who made a difference every day he was with us.
