Ballston Spa stages comeback to defeat Guilderland in overtime: Section 2 girls’ basketball roundup

FRIDAY, JAN. 19

It was an‌ intense game as Ballston‍ Spa⁣ defeated Guilderland ⁣66-62 in overtime in‌ a ⁣Suburban Council game. Aubrey Kramer scored 18 points, Sophia ⁢Lee had⁣ 16 and ​Chloe Rhoden added 14 to secure the victory for the‌ Scotties.

Bethlehem also had a ⁣strong showing, limiting Niskayuna to three points in the second quarter and ultimately⁢ beating the Silver⁤ Warriors 47-32.‌ Caroline Davis scored 14 points and Kaitly Robbins had 10 for Bethlehem, while⁢ Skye ⁢Linyear had 15 points for Niskayuna.

Meanwhile,⁢ Averill Park shut down‍ Troy 65-22, with Taylor Holohan leading AP with⁤ 21 points, Abigail‌ Colwill had 13 and‍ Arianna Verardi had 12.

THURSDAY, JAN. 18

In Western Athletic Conference action, the Duanesburg girls’ basketball team defeated Notre Dame-Bishop‍ Gibbons 71-35. Allison O’Hanlon‌ drained five 3-pointers in a 25 point performance, while ‌Hannah Mulhern had a ⁢double-double, with ‍22 points and 11 rebounds.

Amsterdam staved off Gloversville ‍to earn a 45-40 victory, as Felise Fowler put ‍up 17 points ⁤for the Rams. Mya Perez and Annie Fedullo each ⁤contributed eight points for Amsterdam.

Shaker​ picked⁤ up a 60-43 Suburban⁤ Council ⁤victory over ​Saratoga ‍Springs. ⁤Jayla ​Geter​ led the‌ Blue Bison with 15 points,⁣ as Sierra Carted⁣ scored 13.

WEDNESDAY, JAN. 17

Taniyah Monforte scored 14 of‍ her 16 points in the first half to help Burnt ​Hills-Ballston⁤ Lake defeat Troy 60-32​ in a Suburban Council game. Tegan Keane added 15 in ⁤the win. Amaya⁢ Harris scored 16 of her 17 points in the second half to ​lead Troy.

Northville had strong first‌ and⁢ fourth quarters in topping rival Mayfield 50-31. Hailey Monroe scored a ⁤game-high 29 for Northville, with Keira Mackey adding​ 10.

Albany ⁤Academy had a strong first quarter in its ⁤54-42 win over Columbia. Eva Gitto’s 14 ‍led the Bears, with Alex Leonard providing 12 and Morgan Vien ‌adding ‌10.

MONDAY, JAN. 15

Ella⁣ Zecca delivered ⁢23 points for Mechanicville in its 79-35⁤ Wasaren League win over Waterford-Halfmoon. Lila Christensen added 12 for the ⁣winners, while Sophia Tamasi and Molly DiSiena scored ‌11 and 10, respectively.

Bishop Kearney concluded its Capital Region trip with a 73-68 ⁤overtime win ‍against Bethlehem in‍ a non-league game. ‍Asia Wilson had ⁢36 ⁤for ‍Bishop Kearney. Kaitlyn Robbins scored 11 of her 29 points in the ⁢fourth quarter for ⁤Bethlehem.

SUNDAY, JAN. 14

Bethlehem erupted for 13⁣ 3-pointers in its 75-67 non-league ⁣win over Cicero-North Syracuse. Paige Davenport ‍led the way for​ Bethlehem with 23 points and five 3-pointers. Kelsey ⁢vonWedel added 16 points and four 3-pointers.

Navii Turpin’s double-double⁢ of 20 points and 15 rebounds led Catholic Central to a 63-60 win​ over Section 5 power Bishop Kearney. Kris Foglia⁣ added 19 ⁣points for the Crusaders.

Kate Milham scored a game-high‌ 18 points ‍to ⁤guide Shenendehowa to ⁣a 59-33 win over Pearl River. Gabby Stuart added 10.
