Karaline McCarthy leads Scotia-Glenville to Victory
In an impressive display of skill and teamwork, Karaline McCarthy led the way with 21 points, as Scotia-Glenville topped Johnstown 71-11 in Foothills Council girls’ basketball action on Monday. Jessica Bodden added 19, while Keeley Kristel scored 11. Molly Wilcox had five points for Johnstown.
Exciting Matchups and Standout Performances
Four players had eight or more points as Broadalbin-Perth topped Amsterdam 46-28. Mairead Marsden scored 14 to lead the Patriots. Ellie Tirado’s 10 points paced Amsterdam.
Dyllan Ray recorded 18 points, 10 rebounds, four steals and three assists to lead Queensbury to a 56-46 win over South Glens Falls. Kaitlyn Barton added 13 points and 10 rebounds. Shea Canavan added 10 points and eight assists.
In Colonial Council action, Mechanicville defeated Voorheesville 49-27. Ella Zecca’s 18 led Mechanicville, while Hannah Woodworth’s 12 led Voorheesville.
Outscoring Granville 12-5 in the third quarter was most of the difference for Saratoga Central Catholic in its 42-34 non-league win. Sophia Ryan led the Saints with 23 points, while Addison Whitbeck added 11. Lauren Bascom’s 11 led Granville.
Shaker edged Duanesburg 54-52 behind Sofia Lanni’s 17 points. Sierra Carter scored 12 in the win. Allison O’Hanlon scored a game-high 25 to lead Duanesburg. Hannah Mulhern and Alex Moses contributed 12 and 10, respectively.
Cobleskill-Richmondville jumped out to a 17-4 lead after the first quarter in its 46-28 win over Oneonta. Caris Hill and Riley France led the Bulldogs with 11 apiece.
Disagree. Didn’t watch the game, but I’m not convinced that McCarthy was the sole reason for the victory. Team effort matters too.
