Municipal Park Renovation

After reading your recent article on the renovations of the Municipal Park, I feel there are a few oversights that city seems to have missed. In particular, the omission of wheelchair-accessible facilities in the plans is concerning. As a wheelchair user, these facilities are essential for us to enjoy the park like everyone else. I hope the city will take this into consideration and revise their plans accordingly.

Acknowledging Our Healthcare Heroes

Schenectady’s healthcare workers deserve a spotlight. The story featured on WHNY News recently about the hospital staff who worked tirelessly throughout the COVID-19 pandemic really touched me. These individuals have shown extraordinary dedication and resilience during these challenging times and I believe they deserve our deepest appreciation. I propose that the city should organize a special event or recognition day for our healthcare heroes. This would go a long way to show our gratitude and could in turn increase morale within the local healthcare sector.

The Need for More Affordable Housing

After years of witnessing the growing homeless population in Schenectady, one question continues to nag at me: when will our government step in to provide more affordable housing? As a member of the board of a local homeless shelter, I’ve seen the struggles that individuals and families face in trying to secure stable and affordable housing. The city must do more to address this growing crisis. I urge city officials to explore new avenues for providing affordable housing in our community.
