McClement from Waterford-Halfmoon Selected as CDSWOY Class of 2024 Award Winner

We are thrilled to announce that Cassidy McClement,⁢ a distinguished senior at Waterford-Halfmoon High School, ‍has been selected as one of the ten esteemed‌ scholastic award ⁤recipients ‍for‍ 2024 by the renowned Capital District Sports Women​ of⁤ the Year organization.

McClement, a versatile‍ athlete who excels in​ soccer, indoor track, and outdoor ​track⁣ & field, ⁤will be honored at the prestigious Capital District⁤ Sports Women of the Year Awards Gala. The event is ‍scheduled for Monday, Aug. 12, at 7 p.m. at the iconic GE Theatre at Proctors​ in Schenectady. Tickets can be purchased online at proctors.org or directly from the Proctors ⁤Box ‌Office.

McClement’s academic achievements are equally ⁣impressive. ‌She was the Valedictorian of‍ her class at Waterford-Halfmoon, ⁤served as the president of the National Honor Society, and held ⁢the ​position of treasurer for the‍ Class of 2024. Remarkably, Cassidy maintained ​a position in the top 10​ of her ​class throughout her high school career.

On the ‌athletic front, McClement is a three-time⁣ individual sectional champion in outdoor track⁣ and ⁢holds the school record in the 100, 200,​ long jump, and the​ 400 relay team. She was a key player in the back-to-back‌ Class C⁤ girls’ soccer state championship teams at Waterford-Halfmoon, earning Wasaren League All-Star honors in soccer. She was⁣ also an All-League first-team soccer selection and a third-team ‍All ⁢State ‌honoree. In her senior year, she proudly served ⁢as⁤ the captain of the soccer team.

McClement’s commitment to her ​community‌ is ‍evident in her volunteer work. ⁤She⁣ has‍ been involved in food drives for​ the Town of Waterford and the town’s Dragon Boat Event, which supports To Life, a‌ cancer⁣ charity. She also contributed to the school’s blood drives through the American Red Cross.

McClement is the second student-athlete from Waterford-Halfmoon High School to receive this⁤ honor from CDSWOY,‍ following Addyson Galuski who was recognized in 2023.

A‍ total of 10 high school and three college female ‍student-athletes will be ⁤celebrated. Stay tuned for the announcement ⁢of ⁢the next recipient on Monday.
