We are thrilled to announce that Cassidy McClement, a distinguished senior at Waterford-Halfmoon High School, has been selected as one of the ten esteemed scholastic award recipients for 2024 by the renowned Capital District Sports Women of the Year organization.
McClement, a versatile athlete who excels in soccer, indoor track, and outdoor track & field, will be honored at the prestigious Capital District Sports Women of the Year Awards Gala. The event is scheduled for Monday, Aug. 12, at 7 p.m. at the iconic GE Theatre at Proctors in Schenectady. Tickets can be purchased online at proctors.org or directly from the Proctors Box Office.
McClement’s academic achievements are equally impressive. She was the Valedictorian of her class at Waterford-Halfmoon, served as the president of the National Honor Society, and held the position of treasurer for the Class of 2024. Remarkably, Cassidy maintained a position in the top 10 of her class throughout her high school career.
On the athletic front, McClement is a three-time individual sectional champion in outdoor track and holds the school record in the 100, 200, long jump, and the 400 relay team. She was a key player in the back-to-back Class C girls’ soccer state championship teams at Waterford-Halfmoon, earning Wasaren League All-Star honors in soccer. She was also an All-League first-team soccer selection and a third-team All State honoree. In her senior year, she proudly served as the captain of the soccer team.
McClement’s commitment to her community is evident in her volunteer work. She has been involved in food drives for the Town of Waterford and the town’s Dragon Boat Event, which supports To Life, a cancer charity. She also contributed to the school’s blood drives through the American Red Cross.
McClement is the second student-athlete from Waterford-Halfmoon High School to receive this honor from CDSWOY, following Addyson Galuski who was recognized in 2023.
A total of 10 high school and three college female student-athletes will be celebrated. Stay tuned for the announcement of the next recipient on Monday.
Great news! Congratulations to McClement from Waterford-Halfmoon on being selected as the CDSWOY Class of 2024 Award Winner. Well-deserved recognition for their hard work and dedication.
