Concern about the Increasing Drug Problem
The recent surge in drug-related incidents in the city is deeply troubling. Your coverage of the narcotics arrests last week, including several right here in Schenectady, is indicative of a larger societal problem. The lockdowns and restrictions have led some towards harmful pathways, and our community is feeling the effects.
What are we doing about this? Instead of merely reacting to the problem, should we not fortify our preventive measures? Better public awareness programs, along with remedial and rehabilitation facilities for addicts, should be prioritized. Let’s not allow our city to be taken over by these dreadful drugs.

Potholes becoming a Matter of Public Safety
Your piece on the state of our roads, specifically the numerous potholes throughout the city, is spot-on. It is an issue that has been overlooked for much too long. It’s difficult to have a comfortable ride within the city and this is causing annoyance and potential danger to Schenectady residents.
If our tax dollars are used to maintain our city’s infrastructure then city officials should be held accountable for the perilous state of our roadways. Until this issue is addressed, automobile damage, accidents, and danger to pedestrians will continue to be a risk we face every day.

Proud of Local Heroes
I read with great interest the story of how a brave group of local teenagers saved a family from their burning home. The actions of these youngsters should make us proud.
They bravely ran into the area, notified emergency teams, and did their part to ensure everyone was safe until professional help arrived. They’re an inspiration and prove that heroes live amongst us. They have reminded us that we can all step up when the situation calls for it. I hope their bravery will inspire all of us, in any way possible, to help our own communities when in need.
