NEW YORK, N.Y. (WKBW) — ‍Governor Kathy Hochul of ⁢New York has declared that the ⁣latest version of the ‍COVID-19 vaccine ‍is now accessible throughout the ⁤state.

As students gear up for the new school year ‍and we ⁤approach the season ⁢of respiratory illnesses, Governor Hochul ⁢is urging ⁢all eligible New⁢ Yorkers to take advantage⁤ of the vaccine.

Alongside Governor Hochul, Dr. James McDonald, the New York State‍ Health ⁢Commissioner, has issued a standing order. This order permits all eligible residents‍ of New York to receive the‍ updated‌ COVID-19 ⁤vaccine at any pharmacy across the state, without needing a‌ prescription from their healthcare ⁣provider.

“The time is‍ now to get the updated COVID-19 vaccine. It’s a crucial‌ step⁤ in safeguarding your family and community. As we’ve done in the⁢ past, we’re prioritizing health and making it convenient⁢ for all ⁣eligible⁢ New Yorkers ⁣to get the ‍vaccine ⁤at any pharmacy across‌ the state.”

– Gov.⁢ Hochul

“The COVID-19 vaccine is ⁢the most effective shield against hospitalization or suffering from Long COVID. I urge all ⁣those eligible‌ to ⁢prioritize their health and ⁤get vaccinated. As we transition into the ‌fall‍ season, a time when respiratory⁣ viruses are prevalent, ⁢New⁤ Yorkers should get the ‍vaccine to protect ⁣themselves from COVID-19 and live‍ a healthier life.”

– State Health Commissioner Dr. James McDonald

The ⁣governor’s office has shared‌ that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends ‌the updated COVID-19 vaccines for everyone aged six months and older who has⁣ not received a COVID-19 vaccine in the ‍past two months. They also provided the following information about vaccine accessibility:

“Under the ⁢Affordable Care Act [hhs.gov], most private health insurance, Medicare, and Medicaid plans cover COVID-19 vaccines without cost-sharing when received at an in-network provider or pharmacy. Those who are uninsured,‍ or whose insurance does not cover ‍the updated vaccine, ‌will have access to the ‌shots free of charge through community health centers or local health departments participating in‍ the New York State Department ⁤of Health Vaccines for Adults program [health.ny.gov].”
