SCHENECTADY – The Sycamore Collaborative is excited to announce the arrival of the ⁢fall season⁣ and extends a warm invitation to⁣ everyone to join in the festivities.

Their annual autumn⁢ celebration is ⁣back, this time ‍with a fresh new name.‌ The Friends n’ Farmers Fall⁣ Fest⁤ is scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 8, from ⁣noon to 3 p.m. This event is completely free of charge and will feature a‍ variety of farm fresh produce, delicious fall treats, and assistance with⁣ accessing‌ community resources.

For⁣ the⁤ past 50 years, Sycamore Collaborative, formerly known as ‌SiCM, has been dedicated to helping the residents of Schenectady city gain access to locally sourced food. After a brief break last ⁣year, ⁤their fall⁢ festival is back, this time with ⁣a renewed⁤ focus on inclusivity.

“Our aim is ‌to make this event enjoyable for everyone. While most free events tend to cater more to families, we want to‍ ensure that this event is not just kid-friendly, but welcoming to all,” said ‍Cali Buxton-Pham, the resource development coordinator for Sycamore. “The new name is a reflection of our commitment to inclusivity.”

Attendees ⁣can look forward to a variety⁢ of seasonal delights including cider, donuts, ⁣and popcorn. To get the best selection of free produce, it is recommended to arrive early.

Dagele Brothers Produce, Hudson Harvest,⁣ and Gade Farm will be providing fresh fruits‍ and vegetables. Fox Creek Farm will also be bringing a⁢ special‌ guest — Bob the Pony.

“I’ve been spreading the word⁤ about our event⁢ at our food pantry and through flyers,” said Buxton-Pham.‌ “I’m particularly excited about⁢ the pony. This is the first year‍ we’ll have one.”

Organizations such as MVP and Planned Parenthood will be present ‍at the event to help people connect with⁤ resources like health care.

“Our hope is that these organizations can spread the word about their programs and ‍services,” Buxton-Pham added.

The event will be held in the parking lot of Sycamore, located between 837 and‌ 839 Albany St. For more information, visit sycamorecollab.org.
