Shaker Takes Early Lead and Defeats Niskayuna 35-14 in Section 2 Football

In a thrilling Class AA ‌game, Shaker took ‍an ‍impressive 28-0 lead in the first ⁤three quarters, eventually securing a 35-14 victory over⁢ Niskayuna.

Jake Smith was the star of the show, kickstarting the scoring with a remarkable 95-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. He followed this up with a 37-yard run in the third quarter, pushing the ⁣score to 28-0. Niskayuna finally responded with a 4-yard run by Cam Grasso.

Grasso continued his efforts with a‍ 34-yard run in the final quarter.

In another Class AA ⁤showdown, Shenendehowa showed their dominance by shutting out Guilderland 40-0.

Meanwhile, in Class A, Troy emerged victorious over Mohonasen with a score of 34-22.

Columbia triumphed ‍over Burnt⁢ Hills-Ballston ​Lake 25-8, thanks to Dyan Maychack’s stellar performance. He completed 12 of⁣ 15 passes for ⁤200 yards‌ and a touchdown, and also ran seven times for 43 ‍yards and a score for the ‍Blue Devils.

Kyber Henry led Cobleskill-Richmondville to ⁤a 34-8 lead over Hudson in the first half with touchdown runs of⁣ 13 and five yards. The Patriots continued ⁢their momentum to win 55-16 in Class C.

Connor‌ Wade, Cameron ‍Jackson, and Caleb Hantho also contributed to ‍the Patriots’ first-half score, with Hantho adding another touchdown in the third quarter to extend the lead to ⁣48-16.

Henry ended the game with 132 yards on eight carries, while Hantho completed 6 of ​9 passes for 143 yards.

Fonda-Fultonville took control of their non-classification game against Cohoes with a 35-0 lead ⁢at halftime, eventually winning‌ 42-6.

Mason Smith and ‍Colin Pickering⁢ each ‌contributed two touchdowns in the first half, with Jake Hernigle adding a 70-yard touchdown run to ​end the half.

Brody‍ Holcomb had ​an outstanding game for⁣ Glens Falls in their 57-7 victory over Scotia-Glenville​ in‍ a Class ⁤B game. He completed 18 of 19 passes for 278⁤ yards ⁤and ​four touchdowns.

Oscar Lilac caught two of those touchdowns and finished with 108 ‌yards on seven catches for Glens Falls, which led 35-7​ at halftime.

Schuylerville amassed a ⁤total of 352 yards⁢ in their 41-3 victory over Lansingburgh⁣ in a non-classification game.

Landen Cumm‍ was a key player, scoring⁣ three touchdowns in⁢ the first half as ​the Black Horses built⁣ a 27-0 lead.​ He finished with⁢ 86 yards on⁣ 12 ⁣carries, while Ben VanVeghten ‍had 94 yards and a​ touchdown on seven carries and Ernie DaCosta had 85 yards and a ‍TD on five carries.

Schuylerville’s defense was also impressive, limiting ‌Lansingburgh to just 55 total yards.

FRIDAY, SEPT. 6

Niskayuna​ started strong with a 34-0 lead ⁣at ​halftime, eventually cruising to a⁢ 54-12 victory over Colonie⁢ in Class AA.

Ethan Gilson‌ was instrumental ​in the win,‌ throwing three touchdown passes for Niskayuna, two of which were caught by‍ Cameron Grasso.

Cobleskill-Richmondville​ also had a strong ⁣start, leading 28-0 after the ​first‍ quarter and going on to defeat Broadalbin-Perth 54-20 in a non-classification game.

Landon Hulslander and Kyber Henry each returned an interception for a touchdown in the ‌quarter. ‌Henry opened the scoring with a​ 25-yard ‍touchdown ‍run,‍ added an 82-yard TD run in the second quarter to extend the lead to 47-0 at‌ halftime and scored ‍on a ‍kickoff ⁢return in the second half.

Kameron Jennings ⁢scored two touchdowns in the second ‍half for the ⁤Patriots.

Glens Falls topped South Glens Falls ​42-12 in a non-classification game, as Glens Falls quarterback Brody ‍Holcomb ​was 16-for-18 passing for 292 yards ‌and four touchdowns, three of‌ which⁤ were caught by Kellen Driscoll.

Schuylerville defeated Camden 38-20 in a non-classification game.

The‍ Black Horses,‌ who led 30-0 in​ the ⁤second quarter before Camden got on the⁢ scoreboard, finished with 431 rushing yards, led by Landen Cumm with 191 yards on 23 carries. He scored two touchdowns, as did Ollie Bolduc, who finished with 87 yards on nine carries.

Central Valley ⁣Academy outscored Fonda-Fultonville 14-0 in the fourth quarter to pull out a 27-21 non-classification victory.

CVA took a 13-0 lead after the first quarter, but Fonda came back with touchdowns by Mason Smith on ⁢a two-yard run and Colin ⁢Pickering on‍ an⁤ eight-yard run for a 14-13 ‌halftime lead.

Fonda went ahead 21-13 on a‍ short run by Smith ⁣in the third quarter, but Logan Hewitt, who ⁣finished with three touchdowns for CVA, scored on a 15-yard run and won the game with a 29-yard interception return.

After a scoreless​ first ‌quarter, Lansingburgh ‍outscored Watervliet 21-0 in the second quarter on⁤ the way to a ​41-14 ‌victory in a non-classification ⁤game.

Tyler‌ Monge had ​153 yards​ and a touchdown on 16⁢ carries for the Knights, and Le’Kye Ford had 125‌ yards and two touchdowns on 14 ‌carries.

On defense for Lansingburgh, ‌Joshua​ Shanahan⁢ had eight tackles, including three for⁣ a loss.

Ichabod Crane‌ defeated Chatham 24-6 at home in a non-classification game.
