Class A Section 2 Tournament Brackets Revealed: Schalmont Girls’ Soccer Team Secures Leading Position

It was clear from the start ​who would take the top spot in the Section 2 Class A girls’ soccer bracket, which was unveiled‍ on Monday.

Schalmont, ⁣the reigning champion of Section 2⁤ for four consecutive years, boasted an ⁣impeccable 16-0 record during the regular season, with a staggering goal ⁣difference of 100-7.

The Sabres were rightfully awarded the No. 1 seed ‌in the Class A bracket, while Broadalbin-Perth secured the No. 2 seed. ​The Patriots had an impressive 9-0 record in the Foothills Council and a 10-6 overall record, despite facing a challenging non-league schedule against some of​ the area’s top teams.

Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk clinched Class A’s No. 3 seed, while Cohoes secured the No. 4 spot.

In the Class AAA bracket, Shaker (8-3-4 overall) narrowly beat ‍Saratoga Springs (10-3-2) to the top seed in the highest classification. The No. 1 Blue Bison are set to ⁣face⁤ the winner of a quarterfinal between No. 4 Guilderland and No. 5 Colonie.

No. 2 Saratoga Springs will​ go head-to-head with No. 3 ⁤Shenendehowa (8-4-3 overall) in⁢ its semifinal matchup.

Columbia is aiming to ⁤secure a third consecutive title, as the Blue Devils clinched the No. 1 ⁤seed in the Class AA bracket, following a 14-0-1 regular season. Niskayuna (8-5-1 overall) secured the No. 2 ⁤seed, while Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake (7-6-3) is No. 3 and Mohonasen (13-2-1) is No. 4.

Mechanicville, with a 14-1-1 record during the regular season, ‌earned the No. 1 seed in​ the Class B tournament. Mechanicville is looking to settle scores with No. 2 Voorheesville, the current Section 2 champion.

Chatham (14-1-1) secured the No. 3 ⁣seed and Greenville ‌(15-0-1) was seeded fourth in​ what promises to be‌ a‍ fiercely competitive 17-team ⁢bracket.

In the Class C level, Stillwater leveraged a 14-1-1 regular season to secure the top seed and a first-round bye. Of the 15-team field, Greenwich (12-3) is ​seeded second, Lake George (12-2-2) is at No. 3 and Schoharie (14-1-1) ⁢is ‍seeded fourth.

Fort Ann clinched the No. 1 spot in the Class D bracket, following an 11-4 campaign. Northville secured⁢ the No. 2 seed with a 9-7 record, while Germantown (5-10) was seeded third and Mekeel Christian Academy (4-10-1) was seeded fourth.
