Boys’ basketball team from Gloversville starts season with victory against Scotia-Glenville

GLOVERSVILLE‌ — The Gloversville boys’ basketball team ⁤had a ⁢stellar start to​ their season‍ on​ Tuesday, with everything falling into place just⁢ as they had‌ planned.

The Huskies⁤ showcased an​ impressive defense and a ⁤balanced scoring attack, kicking off their‍ season with a resounding 62-29 victory over Scotia-Glenville in the​ Foothills Council⁤ opener.

While the Huskies’ 27-point explosion in the‍ second quarter ⁤helped them establish a dominant lead, ⁢it was their ⁢defense that truly shone. They held the Tartans ​to a mere two points in the second quarter, and ⁤followed it up by allowing only three points ⁢in the third quarter.

Kingston ⁢Daley led the charge for Gloversville with a game-high ‍18 points, while Ezequiel Santiago chipped in with 14 points and four steals. ⁢Cal Porter added 13 points, six⁣ assists and three steals, and Jordan Collar contributed⁣ five points,⁤ five assists and ⁢three steals. Rowan Halloran rounded out‍ the scoring⁢ with four points‍ and nine rebounds.

Scotia-Glenville’s scoring was led by Austin Stark with eight points and four rebounds. Kellen Kristel and Max Peters each contributed⁢ six points,​ while ⁢Dylan Cruz⁤ collected seven rebounds.

Looking ahead, Gloversville‌ is set to⁤ host South Glens Falls on ⁤Friday at⁤ 7 p.m., while ⁢Scotia-Glenville will have its home opener on Friday at 7 p.m. against Glens‍ Falls.
