Concerns About Potholes In Local Roads
A heartfelt hello to our beloved community! I’m writing this letter after yet another morning of swerving around the countless, vast potholes that lace our local roads here in Schenectady. It’s unsettling seeing how our roads have deteriorated over time, and it’s even more worrisome to think about the potential damage it could do to our vehicles or, God forbid, if it could cause an accident. As residents and taxpayers, we kindly ask our local government to take immediate action in repairing our roads for the safety of our community.

Street Food Vending Regulations
I wish to highlight the recent rise in unregulated food vending in downtown Schenectady. Although having diverse food options gives our city life and vibrancy, there should still be a balance maintained to ensure safety and health standards are met. The authorities have a duty to ensure all vendors adhere to the requisite public health regulations to avoid instances of foodborne illnesses. These practices should be regulated, not to curb enthusiasm or entrepreneurship, but to protect public health and safety.

Response to the School Budget Increment
I felt compelled to respond to the recent news about the drastic increment in Schenectady school district’s budget. It’s reassuring that our local government is prioritizing education, as our children need quality education to thrive. However, I am concerned about where this money is coming from. Will it result in increased tax rates for the residents of Schenectady? Does it mean cuts on other equally important public services? More transparency regarding the allocation of funds is needed for the community to wholly support this noble cause.
