Susan O’Reilly moved on at the age of 64, her life a canvas of bold strokes, laughter, and an open heart.
Born in the historic city of Troy, near Schenectady, New York, Susan was a woman of many talents and an unwavering optimist. She spent her career as a social worker, advocating tirelessly for the rights and welfare of children in the foster care system. Her compassion and dedication to her work were matched only by her infectious sense of humor and love for practical jokes.
Outside of her professional life, Susan was a celebrated local playwright, with her works often featured in community theaters. She had a love for the dramatic and the humorous, which shone through in her writing and the way she lived her life.
Susan is survived by her two sons, Patrick and Sean; her four grandchildren; and a community of friends who were like family. Her husband, Michael O’Reilly, passed before her, but she carried on their shared love for Irish music and dance.
The service for Susan will be a testament to the joy she brought to life. It will be held at the very theater where her plays were performed, next Sunday afternoon. Those who knew her are invited to share a story, a laugh, and to honor a life that was lived to the fullest.
