We are thrilled to announce that Rachel Chandler has been appointed as the new head coach for the women’s volleyball team at SUNY Cobleskill for the upcoming 2024 season. Chandler is stepping into the shoes of Kate Isaksen, who guided the Fighting Tigers to a commendable 12-16 overall record, a balanced 5-5 record in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) play, and a coveted spot in the conference’s 2023 championship tournament.
Chandler brings a wealth of experience to the role, having served as the head men’s volleyball coach and assistant women’s volleyball coach at Russell Sage College from 2019-2021. She also held the position of assistant women’s volleyball coach at Saint Rose in 2022. In addition to her collegiate coaching roles, Chandler is an integral part of the coaching staff at the Capital Region’s Jaguars Volleyball Club of Guilderland, where she leads the Volley Tots and Junior Jags teams.
As a player, Chandler spent her initial three years at the NCAA Division II member University of Sciences in Philadelphia, Pa., before transferring to Russell Sage College in 2014. Her leadership skills were evident as she led the Gators to the program’s third Skyline Conference Champion title and a bid in the 2014 NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament. Her exceptional performance as a middle hitter earned her First Team All-Skyline Conference honors.
Chandler is a proud 2011 graduate of Troy High School. We are excited to see the new heights she will take our women’s volleyball team to in the coming season.
