Concerns Over Increase in Unregulated Community Yard Sales

The recent news about unregulated yard sales popping up every other week within our Schenectady neighborhoods is quite alarming. While I understand that times have been tough for many due to the COVID-19 crises, we shouldn’t encourage activities that disrupt our community’s peace and aesthetics.

Not to mention, these yard sales involve exchange of items that are often not sanitized or quarantined properly. The risk of spreading the virus is a serious concern. I urge our neighbors to think about the possible health risks involved or at least consider proper sanitization and cleanliness measures for the items they sell.

Noise Pollution from Downtown Construction

I stay in close proximity to the downtown redevelopment project on State St. and Erie Blvd. While the ongoing construction is a sign of positive change for our city, the noise and dust pollution has been problematic for the residents living here. The construction activities, starting early morning, cause continuous disturbance affecting both, the sleep and the waking hours.

The dust generated from these construction sites has increased the air pollution levels in the vicinity, making it difficult for people with respiratory issues. I believe it’d be very helpful if WHNY News could look into this matter and bring it to the attention of the respective authorities.

Lost Cats Increased Dramatically in Bellevue Neighborhood

I am a resident of the Bellevue neighborhood, and along with several of my neighbors, I have noticed a significant increase in reports of lost cats in our vicinity. Our neighborhood was always safe and welcoming for these innocent creatures; however, the increased occurrences of lost cats over the past few months is distressing.

I implore WHNY News to please highlight this issue. Not only could it help recover the lost pets, but it could also shed some light on what might be causing this worrying trend.
