SCHENECTADY⁢ – The ‍once temporary shutdown of ‍Dave’s Gourmet Burgers and More on ‍Edison‌ Avenue has now been declared a permanent closure.

The ⁤establishment, under the proprietorship of ⁤Dave Kahn, initially ceased operations ‍in March.

“Due⁣ to unforeseen‍ health issues, we have made the ‌difficult decision⁤ to permanently close our doors, signifying the commencement​ of Chef Dave’s⁢ retirement. We owe a debt of⁤ gratitude to our⁢ loyal patrons and ​friends who have supported him,”⁢ the announcement stated. “Throughout his culinary ​journey, Chef‌ Dave ​has been a pillar of ⁣the community, ⁣confronting and surmounting‌ numerous challenges, including racial discrimination.”

Originally from Islamabad, Kahn honed his ⁢culinary skills in various locations worldwide, such ‌as‌ Greece, ⁢Turkey, and South⁣ Korea, before immigrating ​to the United States in⁣ 1999, as reported in a prior Gazette article.

In​ the Capital Region, Kahn first launched Burger Centric on Delaware Avenue in Albany in the late 2000s, later moving to ⁤Fuller Road. In​ 2016, he rebranded to Dave’s Gourmet Burgers​ and‍ More and inaugurated the⁣ restaurant on Broadway in⁣ Schenectady,​ eventually relocating to Edison Avenue.

The eatery ⁣was perhaps most renowned for its signature Juicy Lucy burger, a mouthwatering creation stuffed with a variety of cheeses and garnished ⁣with lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, ⁣and a special‍ sauce. Besides burgers,⁣ the menu also featured Greek delicacies like ‍gyros and‍ chicken souvlaki, and Indian dishes ⁤such as butter chicken and chicken tikka masala.
