Federal Authorities: Man from Schenectady County Convicted in Child Pornography Case

ALBANY – Federal prosecutors announced on Wednesday that a man ​from Schenectady County has been sentenced in a case involving possession of child pornography.

The ‌man, Timothy‍ “Mitch” ‌Duell,​ 48, received a sentence of 2 years and 6 months in ‌federal prison, according to the prosecutors.

Duell had earlier admitted guilt to charges of⁣ possessing sexually explicit images of a child under the age of 12. He also confessed to participating in online chats where he ⁣expressed his interest in engaging ‍in sexual activities with​ the child, as per⁣ the⁤ prosecutors’ statement.

In addition to his prison sentence, Duell was also handed​ a 10-year ⁢supervised release. He was ordered to pay⁣ the victim a ⁢restitution of⁤ $3,000 and⁢ to forfeit the electronic device he used for his illicit activities, the prosecutors added.

The case was investigated by Homeland Security Investigations and the New York ⁢State Police. The prosecution was led by Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael D. ⁤Gadarian.
