SCHENECTADY‌ – Shocking news out of Schenectady as a man was arrested⁣ for driving ⁤drunk ⁤with a ⁣child in the car earlier this month, according to New York​ State Police.

Burtil ⁣B. Bagot,‌ 40, ‌of Schenectady, was taken ⁢into custody on Jan. 11 and charged⁢ with aggravated driving while ⁤intoxicated with a child, a felony under Leandra’s Law, police said.

Troopers stopped Bagot at about 9:45 p.m. Jan. 11 on Erie Boulevard in Schenectady ⁣for ⁣a vehicle and traffic law violation, police said.

Upon further investigation, troopers discovered that a child under the age‌ of ‌16 was⁣ in the vehicle and concluded that ⁣Bagot was intoxicated, police said.

Adding to⁤ the severity of the situation, Bagot ⁤was⁤ uncooperative and resisted arrest while being taken into⁤ custody, police said. ⁤He later refused ⁢to provide a sample​ to determine the alcohol content of his blood, police said.

As a⁢ result,‌ he was also ⁤charged with obstructing governmental administration and endangering the welfare​ of a child, police said.

The child was thankfully turned over to ‍a family member, police ‍said.

This incident serves as a reminder of the ⁣dangers of driving under the influence and the importance ​of keeping‍ our roads safe for everyone, especially our children.
